Former goalkeeper Bryan Gunn became manager of Norwich City - a day after it emerged that his teenager daughter had launched an internet campaign in an effort to persuade club bosses to give him the job.
Melissa, 17, began a "Bryan Gunn for manager" campaign on the social networking site Facebook and more than 1,500 people logged on to offer their support.
One Norwich fan wrote on the site: "Melissa, well done. Your group has worked. Your dad is a legend."
Gunn, 45, was made caretaker boss last week following the sacking of Glenn Roeder.
On Saturday, he guided the relegation-haunted side to a 4-0 victory against Barnsley.
Many fans thought that Gunn - a former Norwich goalkeeper who has since held various positions at the club - would be an ideal boss.
Melissa wrote on her Facebook page: "I never expected to get so many hits so I would like to sincerely thank everyone for their support."
"He loves this club - and being manager would be the icing on the cake of an extraordinary career at Norwich City and would fulfil many of the ambitions and dreams which he has always kept close to him," Melissa wrote.
