Government Plan - Social Fund LoansWhen I recently moved I applied and was given a social fund budgeting loan, mainly to buy flooring for the flat.This I pay back so much a week out of my income support at 0% interest. According to the news this morning the government are now planning to start charging people 27% - much the same as a store card. This is disgusting, you don't take these loans out for the fun of it, when you are losing £8 a week out of £60 a week to pay it back thats a large chunk out of your money each week. They are happy to bail the greedy banks out but seem even happier to make the poorest of the country pay through the nose for the paltry amounts they are having to borrow to survive.
