RefereesI have just been watching Sky Sports News and I cant believe some of the decisions the referees have made this weekend.
Reading being given a goal that never was against Watford - surely if the referee has seen the match highlights, the match should be classed as void and replayed. Watford have been robbed of three points which could be costly and to me it seems like Reading cheated.
Then a the Chelsea V Man U match at the very end, surely Chelsea should have been awarded a free kick after Ferdinand fouled the Chelsea player (Ive forgotten which one ) and Ferdinand then sent off cos of mouthing off to the referee. Instead of that after Ferguson came on pitch, the game ended.
I know the referees have a difficult job but honestly, I think the standard of referees is going downhill fast and its now not a matter of how good a team is, its a matter of which side the referee is on.

Your right Jo, but what aboutt he so called 'Respect' campaign the fa have introduced? I have to go to a meeting about this on Wednesday night - how can we control players at local and junior level when the spoilt premiership stars conduct themselves like they do?

Watford’s league match against Reading will not be replayed despite the match officials awarding Reading a goal that they never scored.
The Football League, which runs the Championship (second division) said on Monday the result of Saturday’s match, which ended in a 2-2 draw at Vicarage Road, would stand and there were no plans to replay the game.
Andy Williamson, the League’s chief operating officer, said in a statement that the decision of referee Stuart Attwell to award the goal after linesman Nigel Bannister flagged for a goal rather than a corner, must remain final.

Football these days is just becoming a joke. Attitudes to referees really need to be addressed and harder punishments need to be given to players who foul mouth the referee and this should apply to junior games too. A need for goal-line technology is a must after the Reading/Watford game.

We won't get goal line technology in the foreseeable future - they try to keep everything uniform right down to grass roots level - thats why! Don't see why it can't be used for all professional games though, but hey whats football without human error?
