Very nice, was it a zoom lens, or did you manage to actually get that close to one?

I was just thinking the same Jo, lovely piccy Balders have you taken it from an upstairs room?

I took from a window on the stairs, using a 200mm telephoto lens. I suppose I was 20 feet away from the bird. I've reduced it in size by over a third using Irfanview. The actual picture is huge; I've got it set on my desktop..19 inch screen and it fits beautifully.
So how's that now I've played with it?

Looks very big but he's only about twice as big as a blackbird/thrush. Sparrowhawks just love collared doves..a smallish pigeon.

Ive just read in our local paper that deer are being shot cos a herd have been caught wandering on to the M6 toll causing accidents. The deer have more right to be there than the cars and were there before the M6 Toll was build. Why the hell couldnt they just put a fence next to the area of the road where the deer are - I have been to that part and its not all that big.
