world cup qualifierssince europe opened up the qualifiers have been a nightmare, with the likes of san marino, faroe islands and andorra....theres many others too that are only slightly better
is it just me or do any others think that countries like these who dont even have a chance of picking up a point should have to go into preliminary qualifiers to enter the qualification phase?
lets face it,most see countries like these as a chance to boost the goal difference...its embarrassing to see the score lines at times

Agree whole heartedly and the problem for the bigger teams is they just 'try and park the bus' but go at teams like poland and ukraine and get hammered

It is embarrassing yes Skyblue,i can get embarrassed for these small teams sometimes, but there will always be someone who would say that something wasn't fair if they had to go into prelim qualifiers

Totally disagree, every country in Europe should start on a level pegging. Surely that's the least these smaller countries should get. Otherwise they'll just be playing each other and gain no experience, fail to inspire youth and never get anywhere. Also, there's something very special about some of the world forces in football playing against these countries. If they get a draw it's the result of a lifetime and it's brilliant.
Football is money obsessed, making the smaller countries go through preliminary qualifiers would most likely increase the coffers of the bigger countries who wouldnt earn mcuh from playing Andorra.
So if we want to see more of the pathetic, non-contact football that many of the top countries play then get rid of the passion, the determination and the pride of the smaller countries.
I for one, won't be watching.

yes, i see your point, but it's all european anyway... there are all sorts of smaller countries all over the world that also don't get a chance cause they are in with the powerhouses... how about something like chili playing newzealand?, or peru playing korea?, or south africa playing canada? would anybody watch?...

say you had a qualifying group with san marino, scotland the faroes etc.....with a trophy for finishing top........one of these sides would actually win games and a trophy to boot
and i dont agree with the best loser in south america getting a second chance against the likes of new zealand either
