What a dickhead. Clearly thinks he's too good for Leeds.

Yep............all that talk last week about wanting to stay at Leeds
Now he has turned down a 3 year deal........the greedy sod!!!!!
| Quote: | Leeds United have placed star striker Jermaine Beckford on the transfer list.
The move comes after Beckford turned down United's offer of a new three-year contract.
Beckford, who scored 34 goals for Leeds during the 2008-09 campaign, is 12 months away from the end of his existing deal and now looks likely to leave Elland Road this summer.
Chief executive Shaun Harvey said: "The offer we have made to Jermaine is what we believe to be a very good offer, but he has exercised his right to turn it down.
"On the basis that he has 12 months remaining on his current contract and could leave on a free transfer next summer, we feel we must consider any offers that are forthcoming for him.
"In the event that no offers are forthcoming or the offers received are unacceptable to us then he will remain part of Simon Grayson's squad next season."

Fup him - at the moment only Coventry are interested in him and that woupld be a sideways move at best - yet another mercenary on the lines of Hasselbaink, Yeboah, Cantona - difference is, that Beckford is not fit to lace any of the afore mentioneds boots.
The lad had chance to gain legendary status at Leeds, at 25, surely he could have signed and given at least a year or two more service if the club didn't move on.
Give it a couple of years and Leeds will be at a higher level than him. |

Im totally gutted at this news, God knows who we will get in to replace him.
He wont be the first or the last to leave now, I just hope Grayson has a replacement in mind who is somewhere near as good as him. |

It depends on the offer made to him tbh
He's got every right to turn down any offer that isn't in his best interests. He's done well for Leeds, I for one, am grateful for that. If he goes elsewhere now I wish him all the luck in the world, he's already earned a place in Leeds United history imo _________________

Exactly.
He's been a diamond for Leeds, and as much as we love Leeds, you can't expect good players to hang around in league one when they could be in the championship or even the premiership. _________________

| To be honest I reckon he had made his mind up after the reaction he got by the Leeds fans at the Walsall match. |

and a league higher
i wouldn't actually put money on that.....what we're building here at coventry is a talented young team...we've had to put 3 of our 'kids' on longer contracts already....its just a matter of time before we get back up to where we belong
why is it that every player who wants to leave leeds instantly hated?...every player should want to play at the highest level he can achieve....its not disloyalty its ambition.....football doesn't center around one club _________________

He's not hated Sky blue .........but it was just last week he said he wanted to stop at Leeds and then he turns the 3 year contract down.
Nobody can blame any player for wanting to play at a higher level, but why do they pledge their future and then see the pound signs after??? _________________

Yes but presumably, they must be offering a bit more than Bates???
We all know hes an old miser, but he had to stick to realistic wages which reflect league 1 football.
Good luck to Jermaine anyway, wherever he starts the season _________________

I doubt he'd go to Coventry, not known as a club with any sort of ambition. If he leaves Leeds, he's going somewhere with more of a reputation than the sky blues imo _________________

so we've got a new 32'000 all seater stadium.....we've been bought out by a consortium led by ray ranson......the first thing that happened was chris coleman was appointed as manager, then the huge debt was cleared,a young manager who several clubs have been after recently, including moneybags Q.P.R.....all we're told the same thing by ranson and coleman,he's staying put......the long term plan is to build a talented young team that wont only get us to the premiership but keep us there.....last season saw our team include the likes of keiron westwood, scott dann, dan fox, aron gunnerson, leon best.....all who are very young players......it was only last week that the club turned down a bid from birmingham for scott dann...this coventry city aren't the club of old......its a new era here now, everything is geared for the premiership, all we need to do is keep building that young team.......we have more ambition these days than most _________________

Westwood is certainly a promising player and surprised he wasn't snapped up by a Premiership team last year. Refreshing to see what teams like Burnly, Stoke and Hull have achived in recent seasons without splashing lots of money. Look at the farce at QPR, one of the richest clubs outside the top flight, yet have come nowhere close to challenging in the Championship and are now on their 5th manager in 2 years. Things certainly seemed to have settled at Coventry since relegation from the Premiership and they have avoided the capitulation of a further drop suffered by Man City, Sheff Weds, Leeds, Charlton, Norwich and Southampton have in recent years.
Still gutted over the 1987 FA Cup Semi Final though I blame Brendan Ormsby
